Electric cars
Electric cars are vehicles that use onboard rechargeable batteries instead of fuel to provide propulsion for the wheels. The first electric car was invented by Gustave Pierre Trouvé in 1881 and the first "real" electric car was designed by Andreas Flocken in 1888. The first modern electric vehicles were created by California Air Resources Board in the early 1990s but they went off the market very quickly. Nowadays electric cars are becoming more and more popular because they are advertised to be more environmentally friendly and cost less to operate. They emit no CO2 and are more efficent than regular cars. A lot of companies like Ford,Volvo and Jaguar are planning to produce only electric vehicles by 2030. But is it a good thing that this is happening? Electric cars are still a lot more expensive to buy than normal cars, they use rare metals for their batteries and the driving distance is usually shorter. These downsides are a very big problem for this concept but every year the technology gets better and better, so a complete switch may be possible in the future.

Also, the batteries need replacing after a few years and the cost is equivalent to buying a new car. On top of that, disposing of used batteries is a huge environmental problem.
